Hi, I’m Carter
These photos aren’t for me, They are for you. I fell in love with taking pictures of the ocean when I was a kid with my first camera. I became fascinated with what light does to water. Over the years, I learned to hone in my craft to try to help people understand this underwater world around me. Exploring underwater, I found expression for the emotions that I felt above water. The ocean is a very complex beast: I wanted to try to capture some of its vast emotions and depths… the deep secrets of its beautiful life. While I’ve had some astounding human teachers along the way, the ocean has been - and remains - my true guide. The lessons I continue to learn from it have taught me how to live - to be free yet part of something bigger at the same time.
My equipment is very important to me. I use mostly vintage lenses.
